We are seeking a full-time Shop Laborer to join our materials division at our Ward Lake location. The Shop Laborer is responsible for performing various tasks to support daily operations in and around the shops and various construction sites.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with the daily operations and responsibilities of the Equipment Superintendent.
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Assist in the maintenance, fueling, and greasing of equipment
  • Assisting oilers/mechanics/plant operators when needed.
  • Assist with the ordering, obtaining, maintenance, and inspections of current and needed equipment parts.
  • Assist with Pilot Car operations as needed.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors, assist workers, and learn from on-the-job training.
  • Fully supports location health, safety, environmental, and quality programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Ability to perform manual labor with tools such as a pick, shovel, wheelbarrow, hammer, crowbar, jackhammer, or other labor-saving devices.
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, nights, and weekends when necessary.
  • Access to reliable transportation

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30 training certification.
  • 1 hour Ca Sexual Harassment Training Certificate

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk on uneven ground, access heights, and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 or more pounds.
  • Must be willing to work in all outdoor elements.
  • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.

Department: Materials Division

Pay/Status: $21-$24 hourly rate DOE, benefit eligible

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Reports to: Equipment Superintendent and/or other assigned Foreman
