BURNEY, Calif.—Today, Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. (Hat Creek Construction), a vertically integrated, family-owned company producing raw materials and constructing projects throughout California and Nevada, announced its 2024 impact.

Last year, the company contributed to public safety, environmental sustainability, and economic growth through critical infrastructure projects in five California counties (Butte, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, and Siskiyou) and Fallon, Nevada. They created/sustained 150 jobs, distributed $12.5 million in payroll, and sold over 358,000 tons of asphalt, concrete, and aggregate.

Hat Creek Construction’s road work placed over 177,000 tons of asphalt and recycled over 32,000 tons. Putting 32,000 tons into context would fill approximately 1,600 garbage trucks or pave 1,280 lane-miles of a two-lane highway. The company also used 1,260 tons of rubberized asphalt to recycle over 100,000 tires into roadways.

"Despite the weather-dependent challenges of executing our largest-ever rubberized asphalt project, our crew demonstrated exceptional coordination and resourcefulness,” said Perry Thompson, President and CEO of Hat Creek Construction. “Our team also set a new company record for aggregate production, with our crushing and mining divisions working seamlessly to meet rigorous project demands. I'm particularly proud of how all departments collaborated to deliver every project on or ahead of schedule."

In 2025, they are particularly excited that 90% of scheduled work will utilize their aggregate, materials, trucks, and crew, keeping more tax revenue and economic benefits in the region. Most of the company’s work is slated for Plumas and Lassen Counties, enabling team members to stay closer to home while further supporting local vendors for fuel, tires, mechanical parts, and other operational needs.

“This year, we’re proud to work with CalTrans to improve public safety on Highway 36 between Chester and Westwood,” added Thompson. “This $38 million project is the largest bid in the company's history and will replace pavement, widen shoulders and right of ways, and create more safety recovery zones to keep drivers safe and commerce moving.”

Hat Creek also plans to hire several new positions, including foremen and mechanics, with family-sustaining wages, medical benefits, and a 401 (k) match. Interested candidates should monitor the website and social media for upcoming employment announcements.
