When my father started Hat Creek Construction over 50 years ago, we would sponsor regional livestock auctions, including animals raised by yours truly.
In the following decades, we continued to honor that tradition of giving back because investing in our community protects our shared future, fuels our local workforce pipeline, and keeps our region a wonderful place to live, work, and play. Some of the groups we’ve supported include:
Partnering with local nonprofits and organizations extends Hat Creek Construction’s impact beyond maintaining California’s infrastructure or creating jobs and economic growth. By establishing meaningful connections with the neighbors we serve, we can strengthen the community and nurture a pipeline of skilled and committed employees.
We support programs like youth sports and junior livestock auctions because they align with our values of hard work, teamwork, and responsibility for something greater than ourselves. We also believe in sourcing from local businesses, subcontractors, and vendors, like Vestra Resources (Redding) and Kirack Construction (Susanville), to keep positive economic benefits right here, where they belong.
I’ve also experienced that when team members witness their employer's dedication to the community, they are more likely to feel pride and purpose, which can increase job satisfaction and quality of life.
I encourage my fellow business leaders to recognize the immense potential of local partnerships for growth and impact, especially when they are naturally aligned with your mission and values. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient community that thrives on shared values and mutual support.
